Ash Air have provided our services to Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) for more than 10 years. In 2019, MIT decided to move their technical departments from Otara and Mahunga Drive Campuses to their new facility in Manukau City Centre.
The new facility at Manukau was designed specifically for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile and Marine Engineering departments.
In New Zealand, many people are familiar with Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT).
They are one of the largest providers of technical, vocational, and professional education in the country, offering practical hands-on
learning and industry placements, with an exceptional first-class learning facilities
Proud to be the partner of choice for MIT, Ash Air assessed and realised that compressed air requirements were necessary in the Welding area, Automotive, Civil workshop, Gas workshop, plumbing, Metal fabrication, Electrical workshop and Mechanical HVAC test room.
From here, structural drawings of the new site were provided to us by Haydn & Rollett through client meetings and discussions. The
Ash Air team came up with the following plan through the study of drawings and background knowledge of MIT's existing plant requirements:
1) Designing the compressor room to contain a full compressed air set-up: Chicago Pneumatic rotary screw CPB30 and CPVSd 30
compressors, air dryer, air receiver and installations.
2) AIRnet Piping System to be provided to each department with required air droppers based on the location of the machines β around 2.4 kilometres of AIRnet installed!
3) Planning safety measures in the AIRnet Piping System to avoid obstacles installed by third parties like overhead bridge cranes, electric power connections, heaters and sprinklers.
The above processes were completed with high quality due to which the plant is running successfully and has resulted in Ash Air receiving a service contract for five years, including air leak tests.

With this project, Ash Air was pleased to deliver significant energy savings, reduced maintenance costs, more capacity in terms of free
air delivered, and the rolling out a full facility AIRnet Piping System; making sure that high quality compressed air reaches MITβS
point-of-use in optimal conditions, with the right pressure and flow. A compressed air system providing optimal performance and
efficiency, day in, day out!

operational excellence in MIT's product process. Super reliable, supporting energy efficiency with superior sealing to prevent leaks and
reduce friction, preventing pressure drops and saving energy.

βIn Tech Park, MIT needed to create the sort of inspiring modern learning environment for the trades and engineering workforce of the
future. We are training the builders and makers of Aotearoa. Our new school needed to reflect the mana of those careers for our learners,
their whΔnau, communities and region.
Ash Air was involved in this project from the very start, recommending the best options for providing compressed air throughout the
complex and ideas for the fit out.
The company was very professional, reliable and supportive of MITβs goals for its learners. We enjoyed a very good working relationship with Ash Air and would not hesitate to recommend them for your next major installation.β
Introducing direct driven transmission in its variable speed range of compressors, Chicago Pneumatic sets a new milestone in compressed air. The new design, fully dedicated to variable speed applications, grants a maximum of energy saving, very high flexibility, and very low ownership costs.
Combining an intelligent Variable Speed Drive (VSD) with an advanced direct driven transmission together with a high-frequency motor, the CPVSd Series is the most recommended compressed air solution for future-proof businesses. Up to 35% of energy saving can be achieved by this clever combination.
AIRnet is a fast, easy and reliable piping system, designed for compressed air, vacuum, and other inert gas applications from the source to
the point of use with the lowest total cost of ownership.
If you look at your total cost of ownership, AIRnet will turn out to be the best investment choice you can make. Airnet piping network is
engineered to support sustainable operational excellence in your production process. Material and product design, installation and
maintenance costs, flexibility and safety - they all influence your total cost of ownership and the level of efficiency in your production.
