The Power of a Service Agreement for your Compressed Air System with Sunil Joseph
Even when designing a system for supplying production with compressed air or vacuum, oxygen, nitrogen or other gases, one thing is
clear: it will not work without maintenance. Compressed air filters and compressor lubricants have to be changed regularly, wear parts
have to be replaced so that the system runs reliably and safely for many years.
Between 5 and 10 percent of the total investment amount has to be calculated for the maintenance costs each year. Here we discuss the
advantages of service agreements with Sunil, our Service specialised Sales Engineer for Ash Air.
Tell us about yourself and your role at Ash Air?
"I joined the Group company in 2008 as a Service Engineer - India. After two years, I moved to Dubai and became a Senior Service
Engineer. In 2013, I joined CTS Aftermarket Sales Engineer and in 2015, Aftermarket Consultant for the Gas and Process Division. I
moved to New Zealand in 2019 and started in my current role!
I feel excited to help our customers find the right service solutions for their compressed gases and vacuum installations. I have been
doing this since 2008 when I joined the Group company in India! Later in 2010, I have had the privilege to work with several customers
across the Middle East and Africa! Providing them with a sustainable service solution offering for their complex installation has
been a wonderful experience. Now I have continued doing that for our New Zealand customers since 2019."
How can a Service Agreement help a customer and their operations' longevity?
"When customers make a purchase of any equipment, they consistently prioritize the availability of after-sales support. Their primary
concern lies in ensuring a seamless operation, as they are well aware of the potential losses incurred due to breakdowns. This is
precisely why customers find Ash Air to be their preferred business partner, as we offer comprehensive service support and deliver
top-notch air, vacuum, and gas solutions all under one roof!
When customers have a service agreement, it benefits them more than us. It allows them to focus on their core business. The
customer always desires their machines to perform optimally and have a long lifespan, high availability, energy efficiency, limited risk,
and a transparent/fixed budget. All these requirements are met when they have a service agreement with us. Furthermore, we go the extra
mile by providing qualified engineers who can handle the service tasks, and reducing the likelihood of unforeseen breakdowns, and this
will eliminate the need for customers to appoint a qualified compressor technical person. A service agreement with Ash Air plays a
crucial role in meeting customer expectations and ensuring their satisfaction.
From our company's perspective, the value of service agreements extends beyond the mere availability of spare parts and regular servicing.
While maintaining our brand image remains essential, we take immense pride in customers expressing their satisfaction with our compressors,
which continue to operate smoothly for a decade without any breakdowns!"
What does an Ash Air Service Agreement entail? And how do I go about opting for one?
"Our service agreement is completely tailored to meet our customers' specific needs and preferences, ensuring a comprehensive
understanding of our offer.
We extend service support to a wide range of industries, which means that as a salesperson, it is essential for me to visit all customers,
regardless of whether they utilize our brands. During these visits, my objective is to assess their unique requirements and make them aware
of the benefits of our service products, emphasizing the significance of regular maintenance by sharing by enriching experience.
Given that each customer has their distinct set of needs, we present proposals that are customized accordingly."
A memorable experience or positive outcome for a customer that had taken up a Service Agreement offer with you?
"My favorite memorable experience is with an innovative New Zealand company who specialise in pre-painted steel and aluminum
roofing and cladding products in New Zealand, who hadn't used our services for some time. When I joined Ash Air, I decided to pay a
visit to one of our former customers to understand why they had chosen a different supplier. During my discussion, I discovered that they
had switched to another supplier because one of the plant managers' relatives was employed by the local supplier! Realizing that the
customer had made an unfavorable decision, I took the opportunity to explain the potential consequences. Thankfully, the customer came to
the realization that the way forward was indeed with Ash Air.
Over the following months, I maintained regular visits to this customer, ensuring a two-month gap between each visit. Then, one Sunday, I
received a phone call from the customer urgently requesting my presence. Their entire plant had come to a standstill due to compressor
failure. Without hesitation, we promptly fixed their machinery on the very same day.
The outcome of this timely assistance was the signing of a service agreement. Within a year, they showed their trust in us by placing a
new order for a compressor and dryer!" //
