Here we look at the week in the life of one of our female employees here at Ash Air. We talk to Natalie, Communication Manager for
Ash Air.
I
have been in my role for five years, and I am responsible for all aspects of Marketing and Communications within the company;
offering traditional Marketing and Communications activities, as well as adapting to the dynamic, ever-changing digital environment by
implementing a focus on online activities. Typically every week varies depending on the projects we have in the works, the meetings
that we have set up, and whether we are on-site or off-site with our duties. At a glance, my weekly activities will incorporate web and
digital content management and lead generation, planning of events, branding initiatives, as well as sponsorships and revision of general
marketing collateral.
Monday
I am responsible for all aspects on online lead generation, and with that responsible for the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system
that we use in my customer center. Each day starts with checking the associated lead generation inboxes and the system to see what
enquiries have come through. I then qualify and assign the leads to various branch and sales team members. I continue to monitor our
social media accounts’ insight, and evaluate new digital technologies and uses such as Web analytics tools, i.e. Google Analytics to measure
site traffic to better optimize e-marketing campaigns, direct email marketing, social media, and display and search advertising. Today
I looked in to an option to create digital documents that increase reader engagement, ideally suitable for external product
marketing collateral and internal communications such as news bulletins, quarterly newsletters and so on.
Tuesday
Another part of my role is to look after the digital marketing campaigns for the business, as well as grow our company's
awareness and presence online. Today I had a meeting with my immediate Manager and General Manager regarding this landscape,
as well as general marketing conversation, actionables, and event planning. Usually once a week, I review our ad campaigns,
organic SEO, and then monitor results. A couple of tools I have particulary found useful to measure and analyse is SEMrush and
Google Search Console. When I create a digital campaign, I tend to focus on initially creating target groups based on the customers we want
to reach, come up with a campaign and prepare the content for the email or whatever channel we choose to reach our customers and let it
fly. Since I also manage the social media channels for the customer center I also create and post content related to the campaigns.
Wednesday
Communications is an integral part of my role. I am in charge of overseeing all internal and external communications, ensuring its message
is consistent and engaging. Today, I had a meeting with one of our Communication Managers from the APAC region where we discussed an
upcoming meeting where we will learn about corporate social responsibility activity and discussing strategies on how to give back to
the community in a better way, as well employer branding and digital activities.
Thursday
I look after the website local content in New Zealand, so I attend group meetings/training on website updates and online sales lead
generation. I gather and create content for the monthly newsletter, i.e. “Newsflash”, and then work on a design. Once the Newsflash is
completed and sent out internally, I get an opportunity to monitor the response rate and results and how I can make its readership
better in the future. I also sent a reminder for our support Pakistan flooding initiative within the group, as well as sending a news
bulletin / employee profile with photo and 'get to know' information to inform our company of a new team member. I then a meeting with a
local signage company to discuss some exciting brand developments in this area.
Friday
I am currently organising a conference, so I spent some time discussing over phone meeting with their events manager about our requirements.
I also added some blogs to our website, as well as scheduling social media for the upcoming months in line with our social
strategy. As part of my role, its important while planning external facing content to promote our mission, products, and services and
strategise to shape our brand’s image and values, as well as implement the appropriate methods to communicate them to the customers.
